Auditing

Assesses internal controls and processes, identifying opportunities to make improvements and reduce risk. Works with all levels of Dow people around the world in areas such as Commercial, Manufacturing, Information Systems and Purchasing as well as other Finance sub-functions.

Business Aligned Finance

Provides financial consulting to the businesses utilizing a variety of skills developed in Controllers, Strategic Planning & Business Analysis, Auditing, Tax or Treasury. Works closely with business leadership to develop, evaluate and modify value-creating strategies. Activities include competitive analysis, capital project authorizations, M&A and divestiture opportunities, short and long-term planning, and performance monitoring.

Controllers

Responsible for providing world-class transaction processing and reporting — both externally for shareholders and internally, for our global businesses, functions and geographies. Also provides consultative, interpretive analysis and support focused on improving global business performance.

Investor Relations

Provides the investment community with timely, credible information on Dow's strategy and performance to increase interest in Dow equity and fixed income instruments and to enhance shareholder value. Also works with senior leadership to ensure they understand the investment community's views of Dow, including industry issues and the competitive environment.

Mergers & Acquisitions

Leads the corporate activity related to mergers and acquisitions, an integral part of Dow's strategic plan.

Strategic Planning & Business Analysis

Provides financial consulting to company management while maintaining and developing the financial analysis and strategy development technologies deployed across the company. Provides merger and acquisition evaluation support for company-wide or cross business projects, and utilizes financial modeling and analysis skills to support value-based decisions.

Tax

Focuses on tax planning, managing tax risks including income tax audits and tax litigation around the world, financial reporting for taxes and internal controls and providing excellence in tax compliance. Tax is a global function and interacts with business leaders and key functions on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and significant business transactions.

Treasury

Global function within Dow that ensures the Company's financial flexibility allowing the Company to meet business and corporate strategies. In addition, Treasury works closely with executive management to manage risk holistically by employing enterprise wide risk management methodology. The Treasury processes strive for excellence and innovation in each of the key financial activities: cash management, corporate risk management, credit risk management, financial asset management, financing and insurance.

FINANCE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM MBA SUMMER INTERNSHIP

The Finance Leadership Development Program provides MBA graduates who demonstrate outstanding leadership potential the opportunity to gain a broad set of experiences in Finance in the first three years of employment.

The goal of this program is to develop leaders with the skills and experiences needed to excel and contribute to our global organization. Development is provided through structured training, substantive rotational assignments and interaction with supervisors, peers and functional leadership.

The program provides three to four rotational assignments over the program timeframe and is designed to expose the participant to the Finance organization as a whole rather than a targeted area of concentration. There is no defined sequence to the rotations and the potential areas for assignment include Strategic Planning, Customer Financial Services, Controllers, Audit and Business Finance.

Project assignments are challenging and will provide an introduction to Dow’s global financial systems, procedures and policies, as well as Dow’s business portfolios. The opportunity to interact with key leaders in the Finance organization is also an important aspect of the internship. Assignments vary and, to the best extent possible, will be designed to complement the student’s prior experiences and background. Internship projects will potentially be in the same areas of Finance as the full-time rotational program.

Intern positions in the Finance Leadership Development Program are designed to provide:

Exceptional students who are offered and accept full-time employment with Dow will begin their careers with valuable experience gained from their internship and an existing network of peers and leaders.

Summer intern assignments in the Finance Leadership Development Program are typically 12 weeks in duration.

TREASURY LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM MBA SUMMER INTERNSHIP

Summer intern assignments in the Treasury Leadership Development Program are typically 12 weeks in duration.

Who We are Looking for

Internship opportunities exist for MBA students who are within one year of graduation and are seeking a degree with a Finance concentration. The ideal candidate is one who is pursuing an MBA in Finance from a well-regarded university with a numerically oriented undergraduate degree.

Project Assignments

Project assignments are challenging and have significant value to the organization.  They will be in one, or a combination, of the following Treasury work processes:

  • Financial Risk Management: Management of a portfolio of foreign exchange, interest rate, and commodity exposures via hedge strategy development and execution.
  • Funding: Professionals participate in the development of capital structure and formulate funding strategies to meet the financing needs of the company.
  • Cash Management: Manage the day-to-day liquidity of the Company and its subsidiaries in support of optimal short-term financing and investment decisions.
  • Financial Planning: Determine the Company's optimal risk adjusted capital structure and forecast cash flow.
  • Credit Risk Management: Customer credit risk analysis and mitigation in support of the business strategies to optimize the Company’s working capital management.
  • Corporate Risk Management: Risk analysis and mitigation options for various business loss scenarios.
  • Financial Asset Management (Portfolio Investments): Manage the Company’s global pension plan and insurance assets via the development of investment strategies and related asset allocation decisions.

FINANCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR ACCOUNTANTS SUMMER INTERNSHIP

Internship opportunities exist in Finance for individuals who are preferably within one year of graduation and who are working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Accounting Information Systems. We are interested in individuals who are motivated by the challenges and rewards of working for a global company that is reshaping our world. The positions are located at Dow’s world headquarters in Midland, Michigan.

Students will be assigned meaningful and challenging projects that will introduce them to Dow’s global financial systems, procedures and policies. Assignments vary and will be designed to complement the student’s prior experiences and background. Throughout the summer, student interns will be given opportunities to interact with key leaders in the Finance organization.

Student interns will be part of the Dow Chemical National Student Program, which includes students from a variety of educational disciplines and universities. This program provides a competitive salary, paid vacation, paid travel costs to and from college; subsidized housing rates, and planned social activities and events throughout the summer.

Interns in this program will work in the Controllers or Corporate Audit organizations. The internship program is designed to be more than just a summer job experience. It is intended to develop a pipeline of talented candidates for potential full-time employment opportunities in the Finance Development Program for Accountants. The exceptional students who are offered and accept full-time employment will enter their Dow career with both valuable experience gained during their internship and an existing network of peers and leaders.
